What's your dog’s favorite toy and/or go-to treat?

Bernie doesn't have a favorite "physical" toy, per se'. What gets him excited is when he is laying down and I begin to do a "finger-walk" toward him. He is very aware of his surroundings, so he notices I'm doing this and will side-glance my fingers walking toward him, as if to be coy, and then when my fingers are near him, he will growl and pounce on them. It is the cutest thing that makes me laugh every time! He has two favorite go-to treats...Greenies and rawhides!

What is your favorite thing about your dog?

Bernie is personality-plus!!! He makes everyone laugh with his antics. After I feed my cats, I leave the can on the floor. Bernie loves to run for it, grab the can and carry it in his mouth while running to his doggy bed where he sprawls his back legs out while voraciously licked the cat food can clean! It's so cute! And, Bernie is smart. He can work his way underneath a neatly folded blanket to make his own nest. He's just so stinkin' cute!!!

Why should your dog be America’s Favorite?

Bernie was a stray when he came to me. A neighbor found him running down the street one day. She couldn't keep him, so she brought him to me to hold until his owner came forward. After a week, nobody claimed Bernie. He had no chip. I had lost my beloved Ruby, my 17 year old Shepherd mix, just a year and a half earlier. Bernie constantly stared at me as if he knew me. The first time he burrowed underneath the bed covers with me, I knew he was mine and Ruby had sent him to me to love.
