Rescued may 2023, 1 week shy of 5 yo. She had shut down. Little wonder. I am her 5th home in her 5 years, including one of abuse. Love heals
Thank you for supporting Corrie this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid PAWS in their mission to help cats, dogs, and wild animals thrive in happy, healthy homes or in their natural habitats.
What is America's Favorite Pet?
Learn MoreCorrie has never met a treat she didn't like! she's especially fond of pup cups! However, it has taken months for her to feel safe enough to take treats from my hand. She cowered until recently when offered special treats. She also adores squeaky toys! When a grocery order arrives, she gets excited as I often include a new toy or treat in the order.
The fact she has finally begun to trust me. She will stop and look at me with her gorgeous golden eyes, and I know she is saying thank you and telling me she loves me dearly. I'm also disabled. Recently I fell. She rushed to my side and gently put her paw on my arm. She was also very aware when I had surgery and was very gentle around me. She's a big dog: 85 pounds! But not once did she bump into me. And her sweetness. How did anyone EVER mistreat this girl???
I believe she was paw-picked by my beloved Austin. He crossed the rainbow bridge in May 2023. I was heart broken. I wasn't going to get another dog, but my daughter found Corrie's photo at VHS. When I met Corrie, she was shut down. She'd been returned repeatedly & had been at the shelter again for months with no takers. It took months for her to accept she was home forever. She also began showing Austin's same habits! Austin knew we needed each other because he had the same story!
