He was a rescue, but he truly rescued me. After 4 years apart, we reunited, and now at 13, he’s still my puppy, my heart, and my family.
Thank you for supporting Doki this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid PAWS in their mission to help cats, dogs, and wild animals thrive in happy, healthy homes or in their natural habitats.
What is America's Favorite Pet?
Learn MoreHe’s a true meat lover, but chicken is definitely his favorite! We love hiding small pieces of chicken around the house, and it’s amazing how he always finds them. Once, while I was folding a pile of clean clothes, he started scratching at one of my pants. I was confused until I remembered I’d left a treat in the pocket by mistake. Guess who didn’t forget? Doki knew exactly where it was the whole time! His nose never fails when it comes to his favorite snack!
My favorite thing about my dog is his unconditional love and loyalty. When I moved to the U.S. in 2015, leaving him behind in Colombia broke my heart. Four years later, my brother brought him to me, and he welcomed me back as if no time had passed. He’s now 13, almost 14, but still acts like a playful puppy. His love has been my safe place through life’s hardest moments, reminding me that true bonds can withstand any distance or time.
He’s a true example of resilience & unconditional love. Despite being rescued from abandonment and abuse,he never lost his loving spirit. When he first moved in,he and my husband had a bit of a “who’s the alpha” rivalry. They were both a little jealous at first, but over time, they formed a unique bond. His journey from Colombia to the U.S. shows how second chances can create beautiful stories. He’s more than a pet,he’s family, my companion, and proof that love can heal even the deepest wounds.
