Receive Text UpdatesElsa isn’t toy or treat obsessed. She loves agility training, where she craves partnership over possessions, savoring each shared moment over toys or cookies. Time spent together no matter what we may be doing, such are taking care of the horses or a quick errand, is what's the most valuable to Elsa. It is a testament to her loving nature, one that places human connection above all else. And in that sense, you could say her favorite “reward” is simply being included in whatever I’m doing.
I love Elsa’s loving temperament, intelligence, athleticism, playful humor, and her willingness to give her all—whether learning a new obstacle on the agility course or curling up on the couch as close as possible after a long day. She’s truly a shining example of the best qualities of the Icelandic Sheepdog breed - she cherishes everyone around her, thrives on teamwork and connection, and each time I look in her eyes, I see her beautiful soul reflecting loyalty, empathy, and boundless love.
Elsa represents a rare herding breed and the only native dog breed of Iceland which nearly vanished in the 1960s with only about 35 dogs left. It’s a gift her lineage survives after careful breeding programs, showcasing the resilience of Icelandic Sheepdogs—beautiful, intelligent, and brimming with devotion. Elsa’s joyful spirit highlights why this special breed deserves recognition, reminding us it would’ve been a tragedy if they had disappeared forever.
