He is like the. Cowardly lion in the wizard of oz but has proven that when there is an actual threat, he rises to defend.
He has made many visits to the nursing homes and even the ER and preschools and loves every minute of it. He has a special knack for protecting the needy and can quickly determine who needs him. During one nursing home visit, we went into a room where about a dozen of the weakest residents were lined up in rows he went and sniffed every single person then laid at the door and would not let anyone else enter. They were his flock.
