MISS CHEEZE-IT

Cheeze-it was born with NO EYES, but that doesn't slow her down. She guards our yard, bosses her 3 brothers around, and loves to play!

What's your dog’s favorite toy and/or go-to treat?

Miss Cheeze-it can't see, so all her favorite toys make noise. She loves soft squeaky toys, the noisier the better. She'll lovingly take them to the back of the house, hide them from the other dogs and treat them like they're her puppies.

What is your favorite thing about your dog?

I love Miss Cheeze-it's fearlessness. She doesn't let her blindness slow her down, and is one of the most energetic dogs I've ever met. When people visit, they don't even realize she has no eyes! We rescue handicapped dogs, so she shares her house with three "boy dogs" who have special needs too. Miss Cheeze-it doesn't let their larger size intimidate her. She barks orders at them all day, loves to herd them from room to room, and leads the pack on our walks!

Why should your dog be America’s Favorite?

Cheeze-it would be a fabulous symbol for pets with special needs. Her fearless spirit inspires me every day. I'm convinced she'll inspire others too. Having rescued many handicapped dogs in my lifetime, it breaks my heart to know many dogs like Cheeze-it never get adopted. Her gracing the cover of a magazine like Modern Dog would be a wonderful way for people to learn more about special needs dogs - and the joy that caring for them can bring.
