After enjoying male dogs all our life and after our White Standard Poodle died, our son found this Rescue female Apricot Standard, Charley.

What is America's Favorite Pet?

What's your dog’s favorite toy and/or go-to treat?

Being spoiled, she has a basket full of toys, but her favorite is a torn and tattered ten yr old headless "Santa," she digs out for a chase. When outdoors she races around us and tries to nip our ankles. This is still a BIG game at almost 13 years old. She's very fussy with treats, so we have to have a number for her to choose. For special times she goes to the pantry to pick a NUBS chew and will sit "pretty" to get this treat. Freeze Dried Meal Toppers, Liv-a-snaps, and Milk bones, too.

What is your dog's most unique quality?

Charley knows how to do several dog puzzles. Everyday at 11:30 finds us and won't leave until we say "Want your puzzle?" At that point she goes and sits by her puzzles until we fill one to give her. She can do each one in less than 3 minutes. If we are out at puzzle time, she will greet us at the door, rush to her puzzles and SIT until we fill one. We believe she can tell time because she comes to find us at Breakfast and at Dinner. She can understand spelled words and some sign.

Why should your dog be America’s Favorite?

Charley never met a human she didn't love and think they were her "friend." She loves to walk everyday and goes around the neighborhood listening for garage or front doors to open so she can see someone. Everyone knows her and she knows where her special friends live. She will hesitate at their homes and wait until I tell her they are not home and we walk on. She is the sweetest girl who keeps us laughing and on our toes every day of her life.
