Chato is a 14 year-old Chihuahua that came from Mexico to the US to find better opportunities. He's kind, playful and loving.
Thank you for supporting Chato in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid PAWS in their mission to help cats, dogs, and wild animals thrive in happy, healthy homes or in their natural habitats.
What is America's Favorite Pet?
Learn MoreHis favorite treats are the beef jerky sticks that remind him of home. He knows the sound of the baggie, and when his momma says "Jerky?" with a loud enunciation, he gets all hyped up and starts spinning in circles.
He is not like other chihuahuas, he is kind, friendly and very reserved. He has great values and understands that we love him, so in return, he is brave and is always ready to protect his family. He is patient, and as a momma's boy, he loves respects his mom. He draws the line there, and understands that mom is there to be respected and loved.
Chato represents what makes this country great: a place of opportunity where you can be somebody, and to follow your dreams. Chato came from Mexico, and he lived with his mom there until he turned 14 years old. His mom married an American man, so Chato, along with his sister Chiquita, and his mom, came to the US in early 2025. Ever since they all came to the US, they have found a place where they can be safe, where they can be free, and most importantly, happy. He now loves grassy parks.
