Chewie’s favorite toy is Carl the Crab — a dancing electronic crab that scurries around the house. Chewie loves chasing him, bringing him stuffed toys, and trying to play together. When Carl’s batteries die, Chewie will lay next to him and wait patiently until he’s “recharged.” It’s the sweetest friendship.
Chewie’s most unique quality is how closely his demeanor mirrors my father’s. He’s protective, observant, and always checking on me—then giving me that look when I leave. He’s lovingly moody, affectionate on his terms, with animated facial expressions that say everything. Whether he’s supervising an adventure or guarding the front door, Chewie carries my father’s spirit in the sweetest, most heart-warming way.
Chewie should be America’s Favorite because he defies expectations. Though his breed isn’t known for adventure, he’s always ready—riding in the bike basket, kayaking, or paddle boarding the American River, all with a smile. He’s protective, expressive, and deeply devoted, showing that the best dogs aren’t defined by breed or size, but by heart.
