What's your dog’s favorite toy and/or go-to treat?

While Cody loves his toys and all of his treats: freeze dried liver and Purina Beggin' Original, hands down his favorite treat is the beef jerky he gets from a friend, "J." As soon as Cody senses "J" at the door, he starts barking excitedly and his little tail wags at full tilt. When "J" comes over he runs Cody through his repertoire of tricks: sit, up (on hind legs), turn (spinning on hind legs), and lie down. His enthusiasm is off the chart. Cody's favorite toy is brown teddy bear--pictured.

What is your dog's most unique quality?

Cody loves to go fishing with us. As soon as we arrive, Cody walks the edge of the lake, his eyes skimming the surface for rising fish. When he spots one, his enthusiasm grows. He also watches the tip of our fishing rods and goes ballistic when he knows a fish is on the line. Cody used to be very cautious of the still swimming fish when they got close to shore. Over years of practice, Cody learned to go into the water (only up to his shoulder and hips), grab the fish, and pull it in to shore!

Why should your dog be America’s Favorite?

As a 5-month-old flea infested, matted, homeless pup in Puerto Vallarta, Romeo was found by a fellow Boulderite. "M" got Romeo groomed, vaccinated, and dropped off at the Boulder Humane Society. That same morning, out of the blue, my instinct told me to go adopt a little white dog. The love was instant. We renamed him Cody. His cute, youthful, friendly enthusiasm continues to bring joy to our home, neighbors, and strangers alike. The prize money will truly help pay his chemo expenses!
