What's your dog’s favorite toy and/or go-to treat?

Gumbo becomes wild eyed for anything with cheese. His favorite snack is yak cheese chew. Gumbo loves to chew, wrestle with blankets, jog, and snuggle with mom. He is an undefeated tug-o-war champion and loves an agility challenge... especially for treats! Gumbo got a new green ball for Christmas that I’ve named Wilson because he is looking for it at all times! Wilsoooooooonnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!

What is your dog's most unique quality?

Gumbo is a good mood dude. He was found abandoned in a park with lacerations over 50% of his body, yet he was joyfully jumping around, smiling, and happy to see people. Gumbo does not bark and loves all people as he sees them as an opportunity for more attention!! He’s a positive pup with both a big head and big personality. He is a Fashionisto of sorts, loving to dress up and wear holiday outfits. He recently won a local costume contest and was known at the shelter for having style.

Why should your dog be America’s Favorite?

Gumbo, like many large black dogs, went unnoticed in our local shelter for 2 years. He deserves to go from Long Beach Animal Care’s longest resident to America’s Favorite Dog! He is loving, friendly, athletic, fun, and photogenic. Pit bulls often get a bad wrap, but Gumbo will show you immediately that he is a lover, not a fighter. Free kisses are available all day from Gumbo! He also has a charming underbite, a beautiful brindle coat, and is a very photogenic and fashion forward dog.
