She is ridiculously smart and knows the difference between a cookie, a special cookie, and a super special cookie. Cookies are her basic dog biscuits. Special cookies are your soft but tasty meat-like chews. SUPER special cookies are those treats that take more than a few seconds to eat; think bully sticks, pig eats, etc. she loves them all, but of course she gets more excited for the latter.
She has a way of showing the world that she loves them. When she meets a new person, she subtly changes her demeanor to be "more cute." I call it cute ear and call her out on it, but she just smiles up at me and the new person,melting our hearts.
Before I went to the shelter and adopted her 8ish years ago at the age of 3 (or maybe 7- the vet wasn't sure), she didn't know how to BE a dog. No playing, no barking, no cuddling, no curling up on the couch. It took her years to come out of her shell and for her personality to shine through. I want to share her growth and story to America and encourage people to consider shelter adoption. I went there for a different dog, but I came home with the best girl in the world.
