Mayzie's favorite toy is anything within reach when she is rolling on her back on the floor. She will grab it with her mouth, then her paws, and then squeak it while wagging her tail. She also loves cheese and Grandma Lucy's!
Mayzie is a therapy dog for first responders, and her kind spirit helps heal them after their tough calls. She has the ability to sense when people are needing comfort and she will sit with them so they can pet her and feel better. Her first training visit was to the Caldor Fire Base Camp in 2021, and I knew for sure it was her true calling after seeing how much she loved meeting the hundreds of firefighters there, and the impact we made on them was incredible.
Mayzie's story shows that rescue dogs can do amazing things, like helping to smash the stigma around mental health support for first responders. She has earned 6 AKC titles: CGC, CGCU, CGCA, THD, THDA. She is a few visits away from completing 200 visits and earning the Therapy Dog Excellent title. She is South Lake Tahoe's favorite therapy dog. She has shown the incredible impact a dog can have on a community. She's a Foothill Dog Rescue celebrity alumni, beating the odds when she was sick.
