Nicholas the Furst is our 6-year-old, 14-lb rescue. A warrior and a Zen master, he mercifully rules our home, whistling when happy.
Thank you for supporting Nicholas the Furst in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid PAWS in their mission to help cats, dogs, and wild animals thrive in happy, healthy homes or in their natural habitats.
What is America's Favorite Pet?
Learn MoreNicholas the Furst definitely has his favorite toy: It's an old taco-shaped catnip toy he received for his first Gotcha Day Anniversary back in September 2021. Since then, he's gotten tons of presents: A jumping fish, a worm, catnip Einstein, crackling and shiny things, but his warrior heart is set on that old Taco toy. It seems that Nicholas the Furst carefully chooses whom or what to love and then stays loyal to them forever.
Nicholas the Furst's most distinctive quality is his ability to appreciate fleeting moments of happiness, which he expresses through quiet whistling. With every cat, it would have been cute, but Nicholas the Furst is a rescue who went through 2 rounds of Hell as a kitten and endured unimaginable challenges. However, he decided to put all that behind him and live his best life as our rescue. Therefore, when he starts whistling, we also stop and appreciate that moment of harmony.
Nicholas the Furst should be America's Favorite because he is a survivor who has overcome endless mental and physical challenges. This gentle giant will defend his fur and fearlessly fight anyone who tries to take his hard-earned freedom from him. However, he is also afraid of garbage bags and vacuum cleaners, and shows his gentle side by hiding in the closet. Nicholas the Furst is a living proof that, no matter what, you can blossom with the right people around you.
