What is America's Favorite Pet?

What's your dog’s favorite toy and/or go-to treat?

Promise often wakes me with a toy in her mouth. At night, she loves her ball—especially if it squeaks. And if it’s something you want, it becomes a game of keep-away. She’s not big on treats, but the sound of the cracker box makes her go wild. Sharing cheese and crackers was something I did with my former dog, Bella. The first night I brought Promise home, I opened the cracker box and she went berserk, as if she already knew. That’s how she got her name—a promise that Bella would find me again.

What is your dog's most unique quality?

Promise’s most unique trait is her love for people. She doesn’t just ask for attention—she gives affection. She “hugs” you in her own special way, rests at your feet, and seems to intuitively know when someone needs comfort. When you laugh or tell her you love her, her tail wags faster and her joy fills the room. Gentle and emotionally aware, she has a way of making people feel seen and chosen the moment they meet her.

Why should your dog be America’s Favorite?

Promise should be America’s Favorite Pet because she carries a quiet, healing kind of love. She didn’t just help mend my broken heart—she saves me every single day by teaching me to start each morning with light and gratitude. She brings comfort, joy, and connection to everyone she meets. She has a way of drawing people together and reminding them they’re not alone. I hope to train her as a therapy dog so she can continue sharing her gift of love and healing, one person at a time.
