What's your cat’s favorite toy and/or go-to treat?

Her favorite toy is often our dog, Buddy. Since they are both rescues, they formed a quick and natural bond. She delights in pouncing on him from furniture, corners, and doorways, and the two can often be found chasing each other through the house. They genuinely look out for one another. Buddy reminds us when it’s time to feed her, and she never fails to alert us when he’s ready to come back inside. She loves Temptations Mix Ups, but will always insist on sharing whatever treat Buddy receives.

What is your cat's most unique quality?

What stands out most is how deeply she cares for our other pets. We recently lost two senior dogs, and she always seemed to sense when they weren’t feeling well or slowing down. She would quietly snuggle beside them or keep watch nearby. One photo captures this perfectly: our late dog Walter asleep in his bed, unwell, while she lay next to him, careful not to wake him, reaching out with the gentlest touch. Every night at bedtime, she crates herself, choosing to sleep right beside Buddy.

Why should your cat be America’s Favorite?

We truly believe Ruthie chose us. Out of all the cars in the parking lot, she hid beneath ours, as if she knew it was where she belonged. Although the ride home rattled her at first and it took a few days for her to settle, she soon found comfort and safety in our home. Over time, she became a gentle mother figure to our other pets, content to observe everything around her and make her opinions known. She’s a true sweetheart, with a confident, independent streak that makes her uniquely Ruthie.
