When it comes to toys, Smokey has two absolute favorites. His wishbone chew toy is his go to when he’s hanging out solo; he’ll chew away contently until he drifts off into a nap. But early morning he parades around with his stuffed octopus, using it to rile up his canine sister. After a few playful tosses and some of tug of war, they are sleeping.
While many people think Smokey’s most unique quality is physical, because his tongue hangs out 90% of the day, that’s really just a part of his charm. His true quality is the way he lives. Smokey Joe has a heart big enough for every human and dog he meets. He radiates kindness, gentleness, and pure affection. He is, simply, a love bug.
Smokey Joe should be America’s Favorite Dog because he’s a symbol of second chances. After spending his first five years as a breeder dog, he was rescued scared and unsure, but still full of love. Since being adopted, he’s brought joy to everyone he meets. His gentle spirit, resilience, and big heart make him truly unforgettable.
