What's your dog’s favorite toy and/or go-to treat?

Turtle is a foodie. He loves salmon and steak. Lately, he is into shrimp. He likes vegetables such as broccoli and brussel sprouts. He likes his carbs. He loves treats that contain blueberries, apples, coconut, and cinnamon but dislikes actual fruit. He loves his pup cups. His favorite squeaky toys, despite them not lasting long. He loves to play catch. Tug of war is his favorite game and he loves to show his strength.

What is your dog's most unique quality?

I was potty training him to go outside and it was during winter. He was cold and he knew that the only way he could come inside was to go potty, so he would squat like he went and would trick me into thinking he had done his business. That’s when I knew he was unique. He understands English and Spanish. They are not commands. He understands full on sentences. He can say no at the appropriate time. Turtle loves to scream (agua) water. He has had people turn around stop by and say hi.

Why should your dog be America’s Favorite?

Turtle is special because he has always taken care of us. He has helped through the hardest times of our lives. During the loss of various family members, he held us together. He ensured we ate, drank, water, and exercise. He made it his mission that we got our Vitamin D. He graciously helped train his brother, Chapo, that we adopted. He made sure he felt like he was at home. Turtle taught him about beds, toys, food and snacks. Most importantly, he taught him, and us, about love.
